General Dentistry

Comprehensive Exams

The comprehensive dental exam sets a baseline of your health to catch any early signs of serious illness. Your dentist will be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of illnesses which can be detected during a comprehensive oral evaluation.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Most people need their wisdom teeth removed because there isn’t enough space for them to come in properly. They tend to come in at an angle or they don’t fully emerge. Third molars (the wisdom teeth) routinely damage the teeth right next door, called second molars.

Composite white fillings offer the ability to effectively deal with cavities while maintaining the cosmetic appeal of a bright, white smile. They are created to match your tooth to ensure a natural look and feel.

Happy Child Visits

Dr. Shirman educates and assists your children, leaving them with a better and brighter smile!  With understandable terms and incentives to stay healthy!

Fluoride Treatments

Flouride is a natural mineral that your dentis uses to prevent cavities and to build strong teeth. This treatment is especially effective if a patient is at high risk of cavities or caries.

Dental X-Rays

Concentrating on the patient's profile — or side view of the head — the x-ray technician positions the patient to produce an optimal view of the skeletal structures that the dentist wishes to examine.

Gum Disease Treatment

The main goal of treatment is to control the infection. The number and types of treatment will vary, depending on the extent of the gum disease. Any type of treatment requires that the patient keep up good daily care at home.

Tooth Extraction

When a tooth is visible above the gum line and your dentist can easily remove it with forceps, the procedure is called a simple extraction. If a more volatile tooth has yet to grow in, however, your dentist needs to remove gum tissue or bone in order to extract it.

Mouth Guards

First, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth. This is generally done using a dental putty that forms to all the crevices of each tooth and creates an exact mold of your smile.

Preventative Care

Consistent dental check-ups are a great way to keep your teeth healthy. During these check-ups your dentist polishes and flosses your teeth to remove hard to reach plaque and unhealthy bacteria in the mouth.

Teeth Whitening

The first thing people see and the first large impression maker on others is your smile. Studies show a brighter smile means a brighter experience in social engagements!

Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.

Thin coverings that are placed on the visible part of the tooth. Veneers are used for a brighter smile and appear natural.

Dental Implants

An artificial tooth root placed into the jaw in order to hold a replacement bridge or tooth. Patients typically use these when they have lost teeth due to a variety of reasons.

Invisalign for Orthodontic Care

The Invisalign® system utilizes a series of clear aligners that are customized to fit your unique oral profile and smile goals.

A dental crown is a "cap" that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. A crown might be needed... to protect a decayed tooth from more damage, to restore an already broken tooth, to hold a dental bridge in place, to cover a severely discolored tooth.

Teeth can be lost to gum disease, decay or injury. Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and benefit your appearance and your health.

Inlays or On lays

Inlays and onlays are a form of indirect restoration, which means they are made outside of the mouth as a single, solid piece that fits the specific size and shape of the cavity, and then cemented in place in the tooth.

Apicoectomy is a surgical procedure to remove infected tissue from the area surrounding a tooth's root tip (known as the "apex") and allow proper healing to occur following a root canal treatment.

Dental Implants

Imagine being able to replace your lost tooth, not with removable dentures, but with an implant that looks and feels just like a normal, secure tooth.

A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap (these anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and a false tooth or teeth in between.
